Tasting notes Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut
Cava Brut. 9 months in bottle and 96 meses en botella con degüelle.
Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut captivates from the very first glance with its brilliant yellow hue and unique metallic glints characteristic of the Pinot noir variety. The fine and persistent bubbles culminate in an elegant string of pearls in the glass. As you approach, you are enveloped by its intensely concentrated aromas of black fruits, such as cassis and blackberries, inviting you to savour at leisure. On the palate, it presents a surprising balance, displaying expressive flavours that linger pleasantly. A cava that not only boasts an extended ageing process enhancing its mature character but also offers an explosion of fruity flavours that captivate and satisfy, making it highly recommended for those seeking a complete and distinguished experience when enjoying a sparkling wine.

About Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut
In 19th-century Paris, the pioneering photographers of the time discovered something unexpected: when light passes through a black and white negative, the image does not vanish in the absence of colour, but instead reveals a distinct depth, more tactile, more emotional, where what appears dark actually contains all the information of the light.
This inversion of the obvious—where clarity does not rely on colour but on contrast—opened a new way of understanding perception: the invisible is not an absence, but another form of presence.
This same logic of silent transformation, where darkness becomes the source of clarity, finds its echo in certain methods where the raw material is interpreted against its own expected destiny. In the world of sparkling wine, there are creations born precisely from this tension: working with red grapes as if to unveil the light they conceal within, without forsaking their deepest identity.
In this context, Codorníu, one of the historic cava houses in Spain, has mastered the interpretation of this duality between tradition and innovation as a form of creative continuity. Through their work with selected plots and their centuries of accumulated expertise, the winery sustains a constant idea: technique does not replace identity, but makes it visible with greater precision.
Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut is born from carefully selected red grapes, primarily pinot noir, cultivated in vineyards around the Penedès region, where the Mediterranean climate moderates ripening and allows the natural freshness of the fruit to be preserved.
The vines grow on soils with good drainage capacity, which enhances the aromatic concentration and structural tension of the base wine. Harvesting is carried out manually at the optimal moment of ripeness, aiming to preserve the delicacy of the fruit before it enters the winery.
In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed to extract only the cleanest must, avoiding colour extraction, and the base wine ferments at a controlled temperature to preserve its fruity expression. Subsequently, a second fermentation takes place in the bottle following the traditional method, where the wine rests in contact with its lees for a prolonged period, imparting texture, finesse, and aromatic complexity.
Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut is, in essence, an interpretation of light born from ink. It does not seek to conceal the origin of its grapes but to translate it into another sensory dimension, where what is normally associated with colour becomes purity, tension, and brilliance.
Anna de Codorníu Blanc de Noirs Brut captivates from the very first glance with its brilliant yellow hue and unique metallic glints characteristic of the Pinot noir variety. The fine and persistent bubbles culminate in an elegant string of pearls in the glass.
