Experimentation demands courage, and only in this way can the results truly astonish. Such is the case with the wines of the Mendes family, one of the most esteemed names in the Portuguese wine scene, who on this occasion delve into the personal tastes of Anselmo Mendes' children. Two siblings, two grape varieties, and a challenge issued to their father gave rise to creations that blend personality, creativity, and tradition.

Anselmo Mendes Alvarinho do Gonçalo is Gonçalo Mendes' (son of Anselmo) personal interpretation of the albariño grape, cultivated in the mountains surrounding Monção and Melgaço, a terrain that imparts character and freshness to the wine. Each grape is meticulously selected at the historic Quinta da Torre estate, gently pressed, and cold clarified to preserve its full expression.

After 9 months of ageing in used 400-litre barrels and a complete malolactic fermentation, Anselmo Mendes Alvarinho do Gonçalo is bottled and remains in the bottle for an additional 3 years until its release, refining its profile and achieving a perfect balance between structure, freshness, and aromatic complexity.
