Upon approaching the nose, elegant aromas of fresh lemons and white peaches unfold, wrapped in a subtle saline hint that suggests the proximity of the sea. About Anselmo Mendes Loureiro do Tiago

They say that even if children share the same father and mother, the same home, education, and experiences, they will never be identical. Much less will they share the same tastes. This is exemplified by the latest project of Anselmo Mendes, one of Portugal's most renowned winemakers. His prestige is such that he advises wineries both within and beyond his country, always with one foot in tradition and the other in experimentation. But this time, it is not just another project; it is a family adventure.

The story begins with a challenge: two brothers, two grape varieties, two very personal interpretations. Tiago and Gonçalo, sons of Anselmo, decided to test their father and their own palates by crafting wines that reflect their unique vision of the grape that most inspires them.

Thus was born Anselmo Mendes Loureiro do Tiago, a wine that is, in essence, Tiago's perspective on the loureiro variety, an emblematic grape of the Lima Valley in Vinho Verde.

The grapes, sourced from the vineyards of Quinta da Ferreira, benefit from the Atlantic freshness that caresses the region. After a selective harvest, the grapes undergo a very gentle pressing of the whole destemmed clusters, followed by cold clarification. Anselmo Mendes Loureiro do Tiago ferments in used 400-litre barrels, where it rests for 6 months before being bottled. It then patiently ages for 4 years in the bottle before being released to the market.

The result is Anselmo Mendes Loureiro do Tiago, a wine with character, fresh yet complex, reflecting both the Atlantic soul of loureiro and the personality of a son who wished to forge his own path within a family deeply rooted in winemaking.
