About Arnot-Roberts Ribolla Gialla

Recognised in the wine industry as an influential oenologist and viticulturist, particularly linked with the development of quality wines in Napa Valley, California, throughout his career George Vare has played a pivotal role in advocating sustainable viticulture and crafting wines that authentically reflect the region's terroir. Thus, during one of his journeys to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northern Italy, he became enchanted by the indigenous variety ribolla gialla, and committed himself to introducing this variety to California, exporting cuttings from the renowned Josko Gravner vineyard in Friuli. It is from these cuttings that Arnot-Roberts, the Californian project founded in 2001 by two friends who staunchly advocate for single-vineyard, sustainably cultivated wines, presents us with Arnot-Roberts Ribolla Gialla, a white wine that stands out as a unique expression of the Californian terroir and offers a fresh perspective in the region's wine landscape.

With an average age of 19 years at the foot of Mount Veeder, in the western Napa Valley, the ribolla gialla vines are planted in deep, alluvial, and loamy-clay soils. The farming is organic and conducted with a focus on sustainability, employing practices that promote biodiversity and preserve ecosystem health. For the vinification of Arnot-Roberts Ribolla Gialla, the grapes are selected, destemmed, and gently pressed. The resulting must ferments with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks after six hours of skin contact pre-pressing, and afterwards, the wine matures in neutral French oak for 10 months.

With no more than 5 barrels produced, Arnot-Roberts Ribolla Gialla is distinguished by its freshness, vibrancy, and complexity. A white wine that embodies Arnot-Roberts' commitment to quality and sustainability, blending the rich Italian heritage with Californian terroir in an authentic and unique expression.
