Mas Alta Artigas 2022 unveils a marvellous symphony of aromas, with prominent notes of black cherry, plum, and blackcurrant. Toasted nuances intertwine with subtle balsamic and mineral undertones. On the palate, this red wine envelops us with its velvety texture, delivering a savoury and well-balanced sip that concludes in a prolonged and elegant finish. About Mas Alta Artigas

Artigas is a red wine made by Bodegas Mas Alta in the Priorat. It is a blend of Grenache Noir together with Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The grapes come from vineyards and winemakers in the village of Viella Alta.

The age of the vines ranges, from between 10 years at the youngest, to 90 for the oldest. They grow on soils of slate, clay and limestone, approximately between 250 and 450 metres above sea level.

Its low-yielding vineyards result in growing high quality grapes.

The harvest is manual and Artigas grapes undergo a double selection process before barrelling by gravity.

The subsequent fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures.

Artigas finally spends 16-month aging in French oak barrels from Allier, 35% of which are new barrels, 30% are one year old and 35% two years old.

Bodegas Mas Alta was established in 1998 when Michel Vanhoutte, with his passion for wine and some Belgian partners, began creating plantations of vineyards in the Priorat.

2021

Bodegas Mas Alta Artigas 2021 is a red wine distinguished by its robust intensity and full-bodied character. On the nose, it unfolds an opulent spectrum of aromas with ripe fruits such as black cherry, plum, and cassis, augmented by toasted nuances, balsamic hints, and a delicate mineral undertone. On the palate, it is delightful and approachable, with a smooth and velvety texture. This is a flavoursome and impeccably balanced wine, culminating in a prolonged and sophisticated finish that beckons one to continue savoring its concentrated expression.
2020

Mas Alta Artigas 2020 is an enchanting red wine, brimming with luscious fruit intensity. Upon nosing, it unfurls a spectrum of blackberries and dark cherries. You will also encounter an intricate dance of spices and Mediterranean herbs, enhancing complexity and allure. On the palate, it boasts a medium body, harmoniously balanced by velvety tannins and seamlessly integrated acidity. Sweetness intermingles with balsamic notes, while earthy and mineral undertones bestow depth. This red wine exudes character and vibrant fruitiness.
2013 Powerful and fresh. Good balance and acidity. Fruity with notes of oak and mineral notes. A somewhat bitter end with persistent tannins.

Powerful cherry red with garnet rim. Thin red tear.

Good intensity and fruity aromas. Notes of toasted oak with hints of spice and liquorice. Mineral nuances in the aftertaste.
2012 The palate is a powerful, but fresh. Balanced with good acidity. Again, a prominence of fruit with memories of the barrel and a special minerality. Tannins are present but friendly. Long and very persistent slightly bitter aftertaste.

Intense red cherry colour with garnet rim. Fine tinted tear.

Good intensity on the nose. Lots of fruit, especially ripe black fruit. Toasted oak, spices, mountain herbs, liquorice and some minerality from the licorella.
2008 Rounded, well-balanced and fresh with a velvety texture and soft tannins. A delicious red wine.

Pretty, deep, ruby red colour with violet reflections. Clean and bright, with abundant dark tears staining the glass.

Lots of ripe black fruit with aromas of picota cherries, wild plums and blackcurrents prevailing. Subtle hints of fine woods and strong mineral notes.
