Artuke Finca de los Locos 2024 presents an aromatic splendour that will captivate your senses. About Artuke Finca de los Locos

It was the 1950s and everyone thought he was mad. This was not land for vineyards; yet it did not matter. The grandfather of Arturo and Kike decided to plant vines at Las Escaleras, a plot situated between 520 and 530 metres above sea level, amongst sands, gravels, and limestone soils. According to the locals, this was not the ideal foundation for a vineyard. Many thought he was insane, but few could perceive the potential of these lands where Artuke Finca Los Locos is born.

This audacity, which later proved to be a remarkable success, is what gives its name to this blend of graciano, tempranillo, and viura that undergoes over a year of ageing. Specifically, the grapes of Artuke Finca de Los Locos originate in Baños de Ebro, within the DOCa Rioja, on this plot planted in 1981. Here, everything has been managed with complete respect, from the cultivation of the vines to the harvest, which is conducted manually. Once in the winery, Artuke Finca de los Locos is sorted on a table, cluster by cluster, before being destemmed. At this stage of the production process, all movements are carried out by gravity, ensuring the grapes are in the best possible condition when they reach the stainless steel fermentation tanks. Once fermented, Artuke Finca de los Locos is allowed to macerate very briefly, for 1-2 days, until the time for malolactic fermentation arrives.

Finally, Artuke Finca los Locos will undergo an ageing process of over a year in French oak barrels and foudres. Today, what was once questioned has become a benchmark. Artuke Finca Los Locos serves as the finest reminder that, in wine, as in life, sometimes one must be a little crazy to succeed.

Artuke Finca de los Locos 2021 unfurls a spectrum of scents, with wild berries taking center stage, interwoven with herbal nuances, spicy undertones, and floral hints. On the palate, it boasts a robust yet approachable structure, featuring exceedingly refined tannins. A sumptuous red wine, both powerful and graceful, with a lovely texture and an appealing vivacity.
 
2018

Artuke Finca de los Locos 2018 is a richly concentrated red wine exuding aromas of stewed black fruit, hints of sweet spices, and mineral undertones. On the palate, it is alluring, lusciously sweet, and sumptuously textured. This is a well-structured wine with a lengthy evolution and a lingering, fruit-driven finish.
2016 Artuke Finca Los Locos is a powerful, balanced and amiable wine. On the nose, it clearly reflects the ripe red fruit on a shy toasted background of its ageing. In the mouth, it is vigorous, with intensity and an acidity that is well integrated and that gives it freshness and liveliness.
2013 Wide and unctuous. Passing is creamy, with body, presence of black fruit with well-integrated roasted undertones. Tannins are round, good acidity. Persistent finish.

Dark garnet red with purple tones.

Elegant and structured, ripe red fruit aromas combined with roasted and herbal notes. Light mineral base.
2012 Pleasant, silky and wide entrance. Tasty with presence of black fruit and spicy notes. Well balanced acidity and round tannins. Structured, long finish.

High layer, dark cherry with purple hues.

Medium to high intensity with aromas of ripe black fruit (blackberries, plums), toast and spicy notes on a balsamic background.
