About Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 Toscana

Instagram, Uber, WhatsApp, Airbnb… These companies share a lot in common, as they are not only successful businesses but also all originated from a simple dinner among friends. Many such gatherings have served as catalysts for innovative and successful ideas. Similarly, Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 Toscana is a wine born from the friendship between Raffaele Rossetti, then owner of the Capannelle winery, and the Avignonesi brothers. It all began when, over dinner, they jokingly started comparing and blending their wines, and almost inadvertently, they created a truly unique wine.

First produced in 1988, Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 Toscana is crafted from an equal blend of sangiovese and merlot grapes. With over 170 hectares of biodynamic vineyards in the heart of Tuscany, the winery works exclusively with organic products and homeopathic treatments to achieve maximum purity and minimal intervention. Harvesting and selection are done entirely by hand, and once in the winery, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged in barrels for 24 months and an additional 12 months in the bottle before being released to the market.

With the velvety elegance of merlot and the rustic charm of sangiovese, Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 Toscana is a wine that celebrates friendship. Revived by the current owner of Avignonesi, Virginie Saverys, who, with a modern and sustainable approach, has not only revitalized the winemaking tradition but also perfected the art of creating lasting connections through fine wine.

Avignonesi Capannelle 50 & 50 Toscana 2019 boasts a deep ruby red hue. On the nose, it impresses with its freshness and intensity, featuring aromas of cherries and raspberries, complemented by spicy and balsamic notes. Upon tasting, it reveals a structured and silky profile, with a prominent fruit core and a prolonged persistence on the palate.
