About Mauro Baynos

Mariano García, a legendary figure in Spanish oenology, is one of the key contributors to the prestige achieved by the wines of Castilla y León. Founder of the winery Mauro, he has succeeded in positioning wines without a D.O. at the level of the finest from Ribera del Duero. Yet his ambitions extend further, as he has also ventured into producing wines in other regions such as Toro, Bierzo, and Rioja. In the latter denomination, in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, he makes a grand entrance with a spectacular red wine crafted alongside his two sons in Baños de Ebro. A creation befitting this wine Midas, as every vine he touches turns to gold.

Mauro Baynos is a red wine originating from old vines of tempranillo and a small percentage of graciano planted in plots in Baños de Ebro, in Rioja Alavesa, where the soils are poor yet rich in clay. Vines aged between 40 and 100 years are cultivated organically, with biodynamic practices and the use of animal traction. In the winery, a traditional vinification process is followed, selecting and destemming the grapes, and without crushing, allowing them to ferment with native yeasts in cement vats. Afterwards, the wine rests in French oak barrels for 20 months before bottling.

With a family trio forming an unbeatable team, Mariano García and his sons present us with Mauro Baynos, a red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja that showcases the identity of a unique terroir. A powerful yet elegant Rioja gem that captivates from the first sip.
