About Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir

Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir is a wood-aged red wine made by Birinchino with the Pinot Noir variety in the Santa Cruz mountains, California (USA).

Expert producers in places like California, France and Italy, Alex Krause and John Locke set up their own project in Birichino in 2008 to showcase the most authentic expression of the Santa Cruz mountains. To do this, they champion organic practices and minimal intervention.

Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir comes from three plots in the Santa Clara Valley. These vineyards are mainly planted with old vines that are cultivated using organic, environmentally-friendly methods. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are manually harvested.

In the winery, Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir is made using 35% of the grapes in whole bunches. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. The wine then ages in used French oak barrels for 12 months. Finally, it is bottled without filtering or clarifying.   

Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir is made with the aim of achieving the perfect balance between aroma and potency. An invigorating red wine that is a statement of intent.

2018

Birichino St-Georges Pinot Noir 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of fresh red fruit, notes of freshly cut grass and hints of orange zest. On the palate it is light, crisp and concentrated. A medium-bodied wine with refreshing acidity and a long and very pleasant finish.
