About Cabrida

Cabrida is an exceptional red wine made in Montsant by the Celler de Capçanes winery. Celler de Capçanes is cooperative for the Capçanes population in Priorat, the cooperative was founded in 1933.

In those days, the winery focused on selling wine in bulk at competitive prices until in 1991, the first vintage of wine aged in barrels was sold. The arrival in 1990 of Angel Teixidó, the current winemaker, led to a radical shift in winemaking in the Celler de Capçanes. There was a greater focus on quality.

Cabrida is a single varietal Garnacha. The grapes come from old vines between 80 and 95 years old with a poor performance.

The vines are planted on terraces at an altitude of 500m, on a clay and granite soil. The harvest is done manually. Fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature between 24 and 28 ° C. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is macerated for 28 days. Malolactic fermentation begins in tanks before finishing in barrels.

Cabrida spends 12 months aging in medium and lightly toasted new French oak barrels. Once out of the barrel, the wine undergoes a second aging, this time in tanks for three months before being bottled.

A great red wine from Montsant with a very limited production. A full-bodied wine, balanced, and with a wonderful acidity.

2022

Cabrida 2022 invites us to indulge in a unique experience with its exquisite ruby-red hue. Bringing it to the nose, one is surprised by its floral aromas intertwined with a hint of mountain herbs, offering a fresh and fragrant sensation. On the palate, it stands out for its array of red fruit flavours, where ripe strawberries and cherries shine with complexity. The tannins, though present, feel smooth, perfectly complementing its medium body. The wood is harmoniously integrated, without overshadowing its fruity flavours. 
2010 The palate has an elegant entrance. Fresh, meaty, powerful, enveloping, velvety. Milky caramel notes appear next to coffee with milk and berries. Well bodied and well structured. Gentle tannins. Wonderful acidity. The aftertaste is very long and persistent.

Complex and intense aromas with scents of ripe red and black fruit along with herbs, undergrowth, cocoa and cloves on a balsamic and mineral background.
2009 Elegant palate, with a powerful and very bulky, fleshy, embracing and velvety sensations. It is a full bodied wine with a wide structure and a good acidity that provides it with a great power and liveliness. Very long and persistent finish. A majestic wine, to be discovered and easily enjoyed.

Dark cherry colour with violet edges. Abundant tears that stain the glass.

Before swirling the glass, the wine is very intense and quite closed. When it opens up, the aromas of very ripe red and black fruit and raspberry jam are released along with toasted and spicy aromas and hints of pepper, cloves, cocoa and vanilla on a mineral, balsamic and menthol background. Complex, dense and intense wine.
2008 This wine shows elegant, powerful and bulky attack. It is meaty, enveloping and velvety with lots of body, great structure and a good acidity giving it lots of force, freshness, and life. Interesting ripe tannins. Long and persistent finish.
A majestic red wine, to be discovered and enjoyed slowly.

A highly intense nose, a little bit closed at first. Once opened out, aromas of ripe red and black fruit appear, raspberry and blackberry jam, toasted and spicy notes of pepper, cloves, cocoa, and vanilla on a mineral background with balsamic and minty nuances. Complex, dense and intense.
2007 Tasty, creamy, with ripe tannins.

Cerise, garnet edge.

Intense, powerful, joinery.
2006 It is an intense and elegant with a pleasant tannic background, cheerful and lively acidity and a surprisingly cool end.

Intense dark cherry color, very bright.

Intensely aromatic wine. It has a wide range of forest berries, accented with floral touches. And balsamic and smoky minerality of its terroir.
