About Camillo Donati Il Mio Lambrusco

Lambrusco is the name given to both a grape variety and the Italian wine produced in the region of Emilia-Romagna. An internationally-renowned wine, which triumphs wherever it’s served due to its effervescence, fruitiness and freshness. However, like in all things, there are different levels of quality. If anyone has fought to defend the Lambrusco grape at its best, it’s undoubtedly Camillo Donati, a winegrower who, after the death of his father in 1992, left his job as an accountant to dedicate himself to vinifying the family vineyards in Parma and to reassessing the local sparkling wines.

To do this, he follows in his father's footsteps when it comes to working the vineyard respectfully and recovers the village elders’ way of making wine. A whole philosophy of life reflected in Camillo Donati Il Mio Lambrusco, a wine which comes from Lambrusco vines planted in calcareous and clay soils with a high presence of pH. Organic agriculture is practiced and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening. In the winery, spontaneous fermentation is carried out with native yeasts in steel tanks without temperature control and then a second fermentation in the bottle according to the ancestral method.

Thus, Camillo Donati Il Mio Lambrusco is a sparkling wine of great nobility. One of the most genuine interpretations of the peasant traditions of yesteryear in the area integrated in the IGT Emilia.
