About Camillo Donati Il Mio Malvasia Rosa

Camillo Donati, a natural winemaker who left his job as an accountant following his father's passing to devote himself to the vineyards bequeathed to him in Parma (Emilia-Romagna), is deeply committed to his roots. So much so that he even crafts a wine in homage to his mother Rosa, a dry sparkling rosé predominantly made with the malvasia variety, with a minute contribution from a red variety. A mere 5% of a grape which, although Donati has never disclosed its name, he confirms changes with each vintage, yet the principal characteristics of the aromatic grape Malvasia di Candia remain intact.

The truth is, to produce this Camillo Donati Il Mio Malvasia Rosa, Donati focuses all his attention primarily on the vineyard. Through organic farming with biological treatments, he manages to obtain a pure grape full of expressiveness. Thus, when it reaches the winery, this natural winemaker's intention is to preserve all the intrinsic characteristics of the grape in the bottle. To achieve this, he relies on the ancestral method, and after conducting a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, a second fermentation in the bottle follows to achieve the wine's effervescence.

Like Donati's mother, Camillo Donati Il Mio Malvasia Rosa is a sparkling wine with a strong and unmistakable personality. A very personal way ("Il Mio" means mine in Italian) of interpreting the malvasia grape.

With an attractive pale ruby red colour, Camillo Donati Il Mio Malvasía Rosa 2020 is a fruity sparkling wine that surprises with its fragrant aromas of stone fruit accompanied by notes of violet flowers. On the palate it is fresh, broad and vibrant. A wine whose fine bubbles invade the entire palate and with lasting lively acidity.
