Cascina Delle Rose Donna Elena Barbera d'Alba Superiore is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made by Cascina Delle Rose in the Italian denomination DOC Barbera d'Alba Superiore, in Piedmont (Italy) with the native Barbera variety.
Cascina Delle Rose is a family winery that began making wine as early as 1948, although it was not until 1992 when Giovanna, her husband and children turned it into a leading winery in the Tre Stelle area of Barbaresco with their very silky, feminine wines.
Cascina Delle Rose Donna Elena Barbera d'Alba Superiore comes from vineyards planted in calcareous soils with blue marls. The team use organic viticulture and no pesticides, herbicides or any other chemical products and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimal moment of ripeness.
In the winery, the Cascina Delle Rose Donna Elena Barbera d'Alba Superiore grapes are gently pressed and the skins remain in contact with the must for about 10-12 days. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and finally the wine ages in stainless steel and large Slavic oak barrels for 20 months and 12 months in the bottle. The wine is not clarified or filtered.
Dedicated to Giovana’s sister; Elena, Cascina Delle Rose Donna Elena Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a red wine that represents the most feminine and sensual side of this native Piedmont variety. A fragrant and tasty Barbera.
