About Christian Tschida Kapitel I

The Neusiedler See region, situated in the eastern part of Burgenland, Austria, is emerging as a hub for a new wave of winemakers embracing ecological, biodynamic, and low-impact environmental approaches. Thanks to its prime location by Lake Neusiedl and its unique continental climate, this area offers an exceptional terroir for the production of wines that blend tradition with modernity. Among the visionaries drawing expert attention is Christian Tschida, a fourth-generation winemaker who meticulously cultivates the 14 hectares of family vineyards located on both sides of the lake with a perfectionist and minimal intervention approach. This meticulous work provides a wide variety of indigenous grapes that reflect his commitment to authenticity, respect for the environment, and quality in each harvest.

Thus, Christian Tschida Kapitel I is a red wine made from cabernet franc from old vines planted on sandy gravel soils with slate and limestone. The cultivation is organic, and the harvest is done manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed by hand and then foot-trodden. The resulting must ferments with indigenous yeasts in oak vats and, subsequently, the wine ages in barrels and vats of 500 to 1,200 litres for 24 months. Finally, it is bottled without fining, filtering, or added sulphur.

As a result of this meticulous work, each glass of Christian Tschida Kapitel I conveys the essence of its land and the spirit of the new Austrian viticulture. A tribute to the cabernet franc of Burgenland!
