About Comando G Navatalgordo

Just as the characters from the children's show Comando G saved the Earth from enemy forces from another planet, the eponymous winery has been instrumental in rescuing captivating plots on the brink of extinction in the Sierra de Gredos and elevating this lesser-known region to one of the pinnacles of Spanish wine. Founded by Daniel Landi and Fernando García Alonso, these two Garnacha enthusiasts now boast an impressive collection of wines that champion the granite terroir and can be categorised into regional wines, village wines, site-specific wines, and single-vineyard wines.

Among the village wine category, they present the Vino de pueblo de Navatalgordo. This wine hails from one of the highest vineyards in Gredos, in the village of Navatalgordo, where the soils are predominantly granite and notably free of clay. Sixty-year-old vines are tended to with artisanal care and respect, and once hand-harvested, they are promptly transported to the winery. There, a spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts occurs in whole clusters, followed by maturation in foudres, combined with concrete tanks, for 10 months. Finally, it is bottled without filtering or fining.

Thus, being directly responsible for the recovery of fascinating plots that were on the verge of extinction, preserving not only the vinous wealth of the region but also contributing to its renown and legacy in the world of wine, they present us with captivating wines such as this Comando G Navatalgordo, a village wine integrated into the DO Cebreros.
