About Comte Lafond

Comte Lafond is a single-variety Sauvignon Blanc white wine produced by Domaine de Ladoucette in the A.O.C. Sancerre, in the Loire Valley, France.

Domaine de Ladoucette is a centuries-old estate dating to the 18th century and now owned by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette, a descendant of Comte Lafond who was the first to buy vineyards in the Loire. Since then the estate has continued to progressively grow. The exceptional quality of the vineyards has given rise to the production of great white, red and rosé Sancerre wines.

The grapes used to make the Comte Lafond wine come from different Baron de Ladoucette vineyards in Sancerre with soils that contain clay-limestone, silica and a base of limestone, stone and silt.

Fermentation takes place very slowly in stainless steel tanks for 6 to 8 weeks under controlled temperatures to preserve the freshness and aromas that characterise the variety. It then ages on its lees for 3 to 6 months, depending on the vintage and is stored in tanks with a glazed tile coating where it finishes refining before going to market, a process that could last for two years.

Comte Lafond is a Sauvignon Blanc that is made with patience and respect for the variety and is an elegant example of the distinguished characteristics of Sancerre wines.

Comte Lafond 2023 is a white wine of great aromatic expression, presenting on the nose with notable intensity, revealing honey aromas, mineral notes, and a rich fruit profile evoking peach and apple. On the palate, it is succulent, maintaining its fruity and mineral character. Its acidity is lively and refreshing, providing balance and vivacity. The finish is prolonged and persistent, leaving a lasting impression on the palate.
 
2021

Comte Lafond 2021 is an aromatic white wine, exhibiting a yellow hue with golden highlights. The bouquet is profoundly intense, featuring scents of honey, mineral nuances, and a fruit-forward character (peach, apple). On the palate, it is sumptuously sweet, retaining its fruity and mineral essence. The acidity is delightfully rich and palatable. The finish is extensive and enduring.
2018 Comte Lafond 2018 is a white wine that expresses fruity aromas on the nose that are reminiscent of peaches and apples, honeycomb, wet stone and floral notes. On the palate it presents a fresh and well integrated acidity and a good structure, with a pleasant mid-palate, a mineral touch and a long, persistent and balanced fruity finish.
