About COS Pithos Bianco Anfora

COS Pithos Bianco Anfora is an orange wine produced by Azienda Agricola Cos with the Grecanico Dorato variety in the IGT Terre Siciliane in Sicily (Italy).

Azienda Agricola Cos is the project of three friends, Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinte and Cirino Strano, whose initials make up the acronym COS. Three intrepid winemakers who have been revolutionizing the Sicilian wine scene since their beginnings in 1980. A model in the production of natural wines whose key principle is to preserve and show the intrinsic minerality of an exceptional terroir.

COS Pithos Bianco Anfora comes from vineyards planted more than 10 years ago in sandy and limestone soils 230 m above sea level. All the work is biological and organic, without the use of chemical products and the grapes are harvested by hand at the optimum moment of ripening.

At the winery, the COS Pithos Bianco Anfora grapes ferment spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in terracotta amphoras. Once finished, the wine is aged with its skins for 7 months in these same amphoras.

COS Pithos Bianco Anfora is a great example of an orange wine. A natural wine made with ancestral artisan methods that shows all the charm of Sicily and all the personality of refinement in amphoras.

 

2019

COS Pithos Bianco Anfora 2019 is an aromatic orange wine with fragrances of ripe yellow fruit, syrupy notes and mineral hints. On the palate it’s fresh, penetrating and very special. A full-bodied wine but with a pleasant flavor and a deliciously saline background.
