Cune Blanco Reserva 2020 is a wine that captivates with its elegant and complex profile, beautifully matured in barrels for 18 months. About Cune Blanco Reserva

For a long time, if you mentioned white Rioja, you had to be talking about the barrel-aged white wines made by the century-old CVNE winery in Haro. However, although the quality of these wines was excellent, the popularity of Rioja reds took all the attention and the whites disappeared into oblivion. Not only that, but the great potential of the region’s dominant white grape, Viura, began to be questioned and the Rioja Control Board even prohibited the planting of white grapes. However, in recent years, Rioja has come around from its aversion to white wines, has lifted the ban on planting white grapes and has even allowed other dominant foreign varieties. CVNE, however, has not wanted to leave behind its origins and is once again committed to the traditions of long-aged white wines with the queen variety, Viura. This is how Cune Blanco Reserva was born.

Sourced from a selection of the best Viura grapes planted in clay soils at 400 metres above sea level and harvested by hand at optimum ripeness, Cune Blanco Reserva is quickly transported to the winery in 20 kg crates. There, the grapes are pressed with the stems and the resulting must is spontaneously decanted in 24-48 hours before fermentation begins. This is done partly in concrete and the rest in new French oak barrels. After fermentation, the wine matures for 18 months in French oak barrels and finally rests for a further 6 months in the bottle before release.

The result is Cune Blanco Reserva, a white wine that, regardless of trends, aims to recover the great lost tradition of making aged white wines. A white Rioja to enjoy a whole legacy.

Cune Blanco Reserva 2019 is a wine that will certainly leave an impression. Totally creamy, this dry white is aged in oak barrels, making it a wine that follows the style of times gone by. The nose is classic, very aromatic, with spices and smoky notes that evolve into wild flowers and chamomile. Really quite something. And the palate is no different. The juicy fruit makes it very attractive and easy to drink. Dry and chalky. Tremendously tasty.

Cune Blanco Reserva 2018 is a luscious white wine exuding a captivating bouquet of ripe white fruit paired with seamlessly integrated spicy undertones. The palate is greeted with a smooth, vibrant, and velvety texture. This dry wine features silky tannins and pronounced sweet spice nuances from its barrel aging.
