About Dido La Universal

Dido La Universal is an organic young red wine from DO Montsant produced by the winery Venus La Universal. It is a blend where the predominance of garnacha is complemented by the varieties merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah.

The grapes for this wine come from a 10-hectare estate of weathered granite. The properties of granite allow it to easily change temperature, warming during the day and cooling at night. This peculiarity ultimately results in a prolonged and excellent maturation.

Fermentations occur with non-selected yeasts, aiming to preserve the aromatic and structural diversity.

Moreover, the grape berries are processed whole, and the macerations are relatively short. The ageing, which lasts nine months, is conducted partly in clay amphorae and partly in concrete tanks.

Dido La Universal 2018 is a succulent red wine bursting with aromas of fresh red and black fruits, herbaceous undertones, and a spiced backdrop. 2014 Fresh and intense. Large expressivity, mineral and fruity reminiscences. Long finish.

Intense cherry colour with garnet hues. Clean and very bright.

Herbal touches and an abundance of fruit. Spicy and smoked base.

Herbaceous aromas with lots of ripe fruit. At the end there appear spicy and smoky notes.
2009 Wine with a broad, powerful and warm attack and a soft and tasty nice mid palate, in which the minerality and the intense notes of fruit coat the mouth with a velvety sensation. Very tasty, very fresh, concentrated and expressive wine with tasty tannins and a good acidity. Very well balanced. Long finish. A great very pleasant wine, perfect for all moments of joy.

Intense cherry red colour with maroon edges. Clean and bright wine with abundant tears that stain the glass.

Clean and intense very nice aromas. Its elegant initial minerality is surprisingly mixed with very Mediterranean herbal notes. Once it opens up, the expressive notes of ripe fruit with hints of liquor are released along with soft spices, smoky notes and balsamic aromas that nuance the nose.
2008 Powerful and broad attack. Fresh and tasty mid palate, with lots of black fruits. Well balanced wine with presence of tannins. Long finish with an aftertaste of hints of cocoa and light notes provided by the oak.

Intense dark cherry colour with garnet trims. Clean and bright. Fine tear.

Intense aromas of minerals and balsamic at the beginning. As it is aerated a lot of ripe and licorice fruit with herbal notes, accompanied by notes provided by the oak.
2007 Entry powerful, large very fresh. The end is reminiscent of black fruit and light cocoa notes of wood aging.

Intense garnet red with violet tones and flexible glass.

Aromas with hints of mineral notes, floral and spicy.
