About Domaine Pignier Poulsard

Domaine Pignier Poulsard is a biodynamic, barrel-aged red wine made by Domaine Pignier in the AOC Côtes du Jura (France) with the Poulsard variety.

Domaine Pignier is owned by the seventh generation of the Pignier winemaking family. It is now run by siblings Jean Etienne, Antoine and Marie Florence, who carry the legacy that began in 1794 in the town of Montaigu, in Jura (France). Although they uphold the family traditions, since 2002, they have been working according to biodynamic and ecological principles, and are certified by Demeter and Ecocert.

Domaine Pignier Poulsard comes from vines planted in clay and limestone soils. Organic and biodynamic agriculture is practiced and treatments are made of silica, plants and manure. Yield is limited to 35hl / ha and the harvest is carried out manually in small boxes, with the grapes selected in the vineyard.

In the winery, the Domaine Pignier Poulsard grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. They then ferment for 15 days with native yeasts and cap plunges. Finally, it ages in oak barrels for 6 to 10 months. It is bottled without clarifying or filtering and only minimal sulphur is added.

Domaine Pignier Poulsard is a fruity, juicy and elegant wine. An authentic red that expresses the authentic Jura identity.
2018 Domaine Pignier Poulsard 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of small red fruits like strawberry and raspberry, notes of wild flowers and spicy touches. On the palate it is fresh, juicy and silky. A fresh, bright and vibrant fruity expression that lingers to the end.
