About Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition

Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition is a natural white wine produced by Maison Valette from the chardonnay variety in the AOC Pouilly-Fuissé region, in Burgundy (France). 
 
Being one of the first in the area to leave the local cooperative and start bottling his own wine, in 1977 Gérard Valette founded Domaine Valette. A winery located in Chaintré, a small village on the border between Mâconnais and Beaujolais, whose wines are known for their distinctive style, aged with meticulous contact with the lees and without racking. In 1990, his son Philippe joined the project, converted the vineyards to organic farming, and positioned their complex and sapid white wines in a category of their own. 
 
Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition arises from the blend of the 2019, 2020, and 2021 vintages. Essentially, this white wine comes from their own vineyards where no chemical treatments are used, favouring the maximum expression of the terroir. To achieve this, the microbiological life in the vineyard is taken into account, and exclusively organic and biodynamic treatments are applied. The harvest is done manually at the optimal moment of ripeness. 
 
In the winery, Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition is vinified as naturally as possible, fermenting spontaneously with indigenous yeasts from the grapes, without chaptalisation or acidification. Afterwards, the wine ages in used French oak barrels for 24 months. 
 
Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition is not a typical white Burgundy. Its complexity, sapidity, and power make it a fascinating wine that is difficult to categorise. 
2018 Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition 2018 is a white wine with great broad aromas on the nose including white fruits, floral and citrus notes and a delicious mineral nuance. The palate reveals an interesting tension. A white wine with refreshing acidity and silky elegance, capable of evolving well in the bottle for a few years.
2014
Domaine Valette Pouilly-Fuissé Tradition 2014 is a creamy white wine with intense aromas of white fruit, citrus notes and hints of white flowers. On the palate it is unctuous, fruity and concentrated. A medium-bodied wine with bright acidity and a long, salty finish.
