Dominio de Atauta Llanos del Almendro 2019 is a gem for the senses. From the very first encounter, its intense red hue captivates. On the nose, it unfurls an array of dark fruits such as blackberries and blueberries, with a subtle floral touch reminiscent of violets. On the palate, it reveals its powerful character; it is elegant and balanced, with silky tannins that gently caress. About Dominio de Atauta Llanos del Almendro

If the Atauta Valley, in Soria (Castilla y León), stands out for one thing, it would be the richness of its soils. A wide range of terroirs that make up an authentic oenological jewel that represents a unique area with more than five centuries of winemaking tradition. Jaime Suárez, Dominio de Atauta’s winemaker, has managed to capture and reflect the diversity and richness of the Valley better than anyone, and with his three single-vineyard wines “La Mala”, “San Juan” and “Llanos de Almendro”, he has earned the recognition and appreciation of the wine world. Very low productions that highlight this small area belonging to the Ribera del Duero and that, thanks to the hard work, are pure works of art.

Among these great works, Dominio de Atauta Llanos del Almendro is made with Tinto Fino grapes from a small 1.39 hectare plot whose main characteristic is the sandy soil with pebbles on the surface. These are old, organically cultivated vines that are harvested by hand in 11 kg boxes with a double selection of the clusters and berries on the table. Once the grapes have been destemmed, cold maceration lasts 7 days with punch downs, and fermentation is carried out in 1,000 litre stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in two year old French oak barrels. Finally, the wine is then aged in two year old French oak barrels for 18 months.
