About Dominio de Tares Baltos

Dominio de Tares Baltos is a red wine from Bierzo. It is made by Dominio de Tares, a winery located in the Alto Bierzo, northwest of Leon.

Dominio de Tares Baltos is a single variety of Mencia. The grapes come from vines over 40 years old with a low production. The vineyards are planted on the slopes of Cabanelas, facing south at an altitude of 500 metres.

Its soil is clay-calcareous shale with ferrous elements. To prepare Domain Tares Baltos, the harvest is done by hand made in boxes of 15kg during the second half of September.

The fermentation is done at a controlled temperature of 29 ° C for 10 days. Once vinified, Dominio de Tares Baltos is aged for 4-7 months in French and American oak, with 1-3 previous years of use.

2012 The entry is very spacious and friendly, a passage full of fruit and spices in the mouth. Good acidity and tannins round out the wine. Good end. A soft, fresh wine with a fruity and spicy aftertaste.

Cherry red with purple reflections and violet hues. Intense, clean and bright with a thin slow-falling tear.

Medium intensity, it becomes more fragrant as it oxygenates. Highlights of ripe red fruit and florals accompanied by certain lactic notes. The background has some toast and spices, final notes of balsamic.
2011 Large and kind attack and a mid-palate full of fruit and spices. Great acidity and tannins that round it up. Great finish. Soft and fresh wine which is fruity and spiced at retro-olfaction.

Beautiful cherry red colour with purple reflections. Intense, clean and bright, with a slow-falling tear.

Medium-intensity nose, which becomes more fragrant as it is oxygenated. Ripe red fruit stands out, together with some floral and lactic notes. Toasted and spiced hints on the background Balsamic finish.
