About Fazenda Agricola Augalevada Areas de rei

A furancho is a private residence where the owners establish a venue to sell the surplus wine from their own harvests. Furanchos are Galicia's best-kept gastronomic secret; places where, in addition to drinking the family wine, one can savour various tapas to accompany it.
 
These intriguing gastronomic havens possess an air of secrecy, as they are not commercially advertised. To find a furancho, one must keep a keen eye and look for a place where a laurel branch is hanging. They are also known as "loureiros" (laurel in Galician) and are typically open from winter until the family's surplus harvest is exhausted, a period that can extend into early summer.
 
Located in the town of Rioboó Cenlle, (Ribeiro, Galicia), behind the historic Monastery of San Clodio, the story of Fazenda Agrícola Augalevada began in a furancho and runs parallel to the love story of Liliana Fernández and Iago Garrido. Named Augalevada, the name given by the ancient inhabitants of the area to a river that divides the property in two, it is the first certified biodynamic winery in the D.O. Ribeiro.
 
Fazenda Agrícola Augalevada Áreas de Rei is a white wine made from doña Blanca grapes sourced from very old plots in the Monterrei area. The wine ferments and ages in 500-litre oak barrels and 600-litre chestnut barrels for approximately 10 months.
 
The wines of Iago Garrido and Liliana Fernández are limited productions with a pronounced varietal character. Wines crafted with soul, whose honesty conveys the landscape, the climate, and the affection of a couple who share, through their bottles, a way of being and living.
