About Foradori Granato Teroldego

While the world has historically been dominated by men, throughout history, remarkable women have stood out for their passion, strength, and determination. Women who, with their courage and tireless work, have left an indelible mark in various fields. When we speak of “The Iron Lady”, we refer to Margaret Thatcher, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1990, renowned for her firm policies and authoritative leadership. On the other hand, “The Queen of Soul” refers to Aretha Franklin, one of the most significant figures in American music and culture, known for her powerful voice. And when we talk about “La Signora del Teroldego”, the protagonist is undoubtedly Elisabetta Foradori, a woman who has elevated the revival of this indigenous variety from the Trentino-Alto Adige region (Italy) to the highest level, at her winery near the village of Mezzolombardo, within the subzone known as Rotaliano, in the heart of the Dolomites valley.

Known for her innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking with biodynamic and organic practices, Elisabetta firmly believes in respecting nature and the land, working with the philosophy that each wine should reflect the terroir from which it originates. Foradori Granato Teroldego is a clear example of Elisabetta's passion and expertise. The winemaking begins with a gentle destemming, without pressing, followed by spontaneous fermentation in large open oak vats. The maceration with the skins lasts between 20 and 30 days, contributing to the wine's intensity and complexity. Subsequently, the wine ages for 15 months in acacia barrels and an additional 2 months in concrete, granting it exceptional depth and elegance.

Throughout history, women have demonstrated that their strength, determination, and vision can transform entire industries, change societies, and leave a lasting legacy. Elisabetta Foradori is one of the increasing number of women who, with their dedication and passion, are shaping the future of viticulture, proving with wines like this Foradori Granato Teroldego that, although the world has been marked by a masculine imprint, women continue to leave their mark with strength and elegance.

 

2018

Foradori Granato Teroldego 2018 boasts an alluring garnet red hue. When brought to the nose, it unveils a rich array of aromas, prominently featuring fruits such as blueberries and cherries, complemented by subtle hints of wood and withered flowers. On the palate, this wine is profound and assertive, with elegant tannins and an excellent acidity that maintains balance. Its mineral note imparts character, while its persistence on the palate leaves a concentrated and lasting impression.
