About Foradori Lezèr Teroldego

As a female scientist in a male-dominated era, Marie Curie was deemed "mad" by many of her peers when she ventured into the study of radioactive substances, a field scarcely understood in her time. Despite the prejudices and challenges, her dedication led her to discover two radioactive elements and become the first person to win two Nobel Prizes in different scientific disciplines. A legacy that illustrates how true innovation often arises when one dares to think differently.

A similar situation occurred with Elisabetta Foradori, a young oenologist who, at just 20 years old, took over the leadership of the family winery immediately after completing her studies. While many of her neighbours were uprooting the indigenous grape teroldego to replace it with more commercial varieties, Elisabetta championed the local and the authentic. Although many regarded her as naive and even eccentric at the time, her resolute decision has now made her the leading representative of this grape and the Trentino region, at the foot of the Dolomites.

It is with this star mountain variety that she crafts Foradori Lezèr Teroldego, a red wine that, as its name suggests in Trentino dialect "lezèr" (light), is a single-varietal with a light body and colour. Sourced from an 8-hectare vineyard on alluvial soil, the vines have an average age of 30 years and are cultivated following biodynamic principles. In the winery, vinification is carried out in various vessels such as amphorae, concrete, and steel. An exhaustive endeavour of experimentation and well-founded decisions in pursuit of the best and purest expression of her vineyards. Finally, the wine is refined in cement for 4 months.

As a result, Foradori Lezèr Teroldego is a wine imbued with the freshness and vitality of the mountains, and the story of a woman who believed in her land and her grape. Light, yes, but by no means simple.
