About Vinyes Domènech Furvus

Furvus is a red wine from the Montsant produced by Vinas Domenech, a winery that was founded in 2002 as part of the Domènech family.

The climate in this area of the Montsant is Mediterranean but with continental influences. The mountains act as a natural barrier to maritime influence and this causes a large thermal contrast between day and night. The minimum annual average temperature is 7 ° C and the maximum is 20. This climate is characterized by cold winters and hot dry summers. This wine is a blend of Grenache (80%) and Merlot (20%) from old vines planted in Caçanes, 450-500 metres above sea level, on calcareous clay soil. Biodynamic and organic viticulture is practiced, certified by the Catalan Council of Ecological Agricultural Production (CCPA) As for processing, after harvesting and stripping is carried out, alcoholic fermentation occurs for 12 days at a temperature of less than 29ºC. Furvus spends 12 months in new French oak barrels (50%) and American oak barrels (50%) either one or 2 years old.

2021 Furvus 2021 astonishes with its immediate aromatic expressiveness, unveiling wild blackberries, ripe blueberries, and succulent red plums. Gradually, the wine unfolds in the glass, revealing spicy and citrus undertones along with herbal reminiscences of rosemary and lavender. On the palate, flavors of luscious ripe raspberries are complemented by invigorating balsamic notes. Furvus 2021 is a red wine that marries the opulence of fruit, the intricacy of its bouquet, and the vivacity of its acidity in a harmonious symphony exuding a delightful Mediterranean character.

The palate is broad, powerful and tasty, with a great fruit presence. There are ripe tannins together with well integrated acidity. A pleasant and persistent finish. A fruity and slightly mineral aftertaste.

The nose has a high aromatic intensity in which we note ripe fruits accompanied by dairy notes and undergrowth with spicy, floral and balsamic notes. Slightly mineral background.
2010 A wide, powerful and tasty wine with highly noticeable notes of fruit. It shows an embracing mid palate with ripe but slightly dry tannins and a well integrated acidity. Furvus is a wide and elegant Spanish wine. Nice finish with a good persistence, a fruity aftertaste and light mineral aromas.

Intense and dark cherry colour with violet reflections and maroon edges. A medium-robe, clean and bright red wine with abundant thin and unctuous tears.

High intensity nasal aromas dominated by the notes of ripe fruit. As it opens up, some milky and undergrowth notes appear along with some spicy hints and light floral and balsamic nuances. Finish with some mineral and liquorice notes.

Its intense aromas of ripe fruit take center stage. Then, some milky notes and hints of undergrowth with light floral and balsamic nuances emerge. At the end, licorice and mineral notes are perceived.
2007 Flavor is sweet tooth with fresh aftertaste.
