About Goyo García Viñas Viejas

Goyo García Viñas Viejas is a natural young red wine made by Goyo García Viticultor with the Tinto Fino variety in the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

Goyo García Viticultor is a project set up by the son of the family behind Bodega Valduero. This vine grower set up the project with the aim of recovering old vineyards full of potential, firstly in Ribera de Duero and then in other less well-known winemaking areas like Arlanza and Cantabria. With the intention of going back to the beginning, he is a faithful champion of minimum intervention in the vineyard and gentle refining in the winery.

Goyo García Viñas Viejas comes from old vineyards with an average age of 40 years old. Their cultivation methods are focussed on respecting the strain and the soil with the aim of achieving maximum typicity in every bottle. They steer away from everyday products and go back to ancient techniques. The harvest is carried out manually before the grapes become over-ripe.

In the winery, the Goyo García Viñas Viejas grapes are destemmed, but not crushed. They then ferment in stainless steel tanks for 4 months with native yeasts using minimal or no sulphur.

Goyo García Viñas Viejas is a single-variety red wine that is the perfect introduction to the artisanal and natural world of an independent winemaker who is reviving traditional practices in Ribera de Duero. A young wine from old vines.

On the palate, it reveals a vibrant freshness, generous breadth, and an enticingly sweet character. This medium-bodied wine is graced with refined tannins and subtle mineral nuances.
