Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas 2022 is a red wine that captivates at first glance with its deep, mature hue, heralding its intense character. About Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas

Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas is a red wine produced by the Hacienda Solano winery in La Aguilera (Burgos), D.O. Ribera del Duero.

Hacienda Solano is the personal project of the Cubillo family. In 2001 the three siblings, Estrella, Nuria and Agustín decided to start making their own wines from the family vineyards which until then they had only worked in order to sell the grapes to the best wineries in the area. To do so, they have been joined from the beginning in technical management by the enologist Sophie Khün and since 2016 by Toni Sarrión from the Mustiguillo winery.

Hacienda Solano has vineyards in the La Aguilera area; old vineyards, some over a hundred years old, located at altitude and worked ecologically though as yet uncertified. Perfect conditions for preparing wines that reflect all the character of the terroir and the variety with freshness and with a great bouquet power.

Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas is a wine made with Tinto Fino grapes from vineyards over 60 years old located in the area of ​​La Aguilera, on soils consisting of marl, clays and limestone.

They are harvested by hand and placed in 12 kg boxes, with the grapes being selected in the vineyards. Each plot is turned into wine separately. Before fermenting they undergo a cold maceration at 8-10°C for 24-36 hours. The alcoholic fermentation is in stainless steel tanks with temperature control for 11-13 days, with slight overpumps and gentle treadings. After the fermentation, the piles remain in contact with the wine, macerating for 5-8 days. The aging process lasts 14 months in French oak barrels and 4 more months in a tank.

2020 Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas 2020 is a red wine with aromas reminiscent of ripe black fruits on the nose, accompanied by pleasant spicy and balsamic notes and hints of chocolate and undergrowth. The palate has a pleasant volume and silkiness. A fruity and fresh red wine with a correct acidity, and characteristics that develop with decanting before drinking. Its medium body and flavour make it very versatile for pairing.

Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas 2018 is a supple red wine redolent with the scents of wild berries, intermingled with spicy undertones and smoky nuances. On the palate, it is vibrant, delicate, and well-rounded. This wine boasts a pronounced minerality, an exceptional framework, and a silky texture. The finish is harmonious and sophisticated.

2014 Hacienda Solano Viñas Viejas 2014 is a deep, complex and balanced red wine. A fabulous vintage for this wine, perfectly reflecting, as it does, all the character of the variety and the terroir with freshness and elegance. Notes of ripe red fruit flood the nose, sparkling subtly with distinguished mineral notes. On the palate it is silky, pleasant and very lingering.
