About Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages

Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages is a monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Côte de Beaune-Villages produced by Joseph Drouhin.

Joseph Drouhin is a winery founded in 1880 and located in Beaune. It owns 78 hectares of vineyards in the various subareas of Burgundy: in Côte de Nuits, Chablis, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. It also buys grapes and must from local producers. For years the winery has been practicing organic farming because it understands that listening and respecting its vineyards and nature is the right way to make great wines.

Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages is made with grapes from some of the municipalities of Côte de Beaune. The plots have clay and limestone soils. The vines are pruned in Guyot style and there is a planting density of 10,000 plants per hectare. Their average yields are approximately 46 hectolitres per hectare.

The grapes fore Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages macerate and vinify for a period of 2 to 3 weeks. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts at a controlled temperature. To extract colour and tannins from the grape, a "pigeage" is performed daily during the first half of the fermentation, causing the cap of skins in the tank to sink, and a "pump-over" a day during the whole process. Lastly, the wine ages in French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months.

Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages is a wine that is pleasant and easy to drink. It is a very good introduction to Burgundy red wines.
2017 Joseph Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages 2017 is a simple and elegant wine, with a beautiful purple colour and delicate aromas of red fruit. It is a good example of a Pinot Noir produced in Burgundy.
