About Joseph Drouhin Santenay

Joseph Drouhin Santenay is a Pinot Noir variety red wine produced by the Joseph Drouhin winery in the AOC Santenay.

With around 90 different denominations, Joseph Drouhin offers a great variety of Burgundy terroirs. A family heritage with more than 130 years of history currently run by the fourth generation of the family who have adopted a biological and biodynamic approach to show maximum respect for the vine and terroir. A style that is characterised by balanced and harmonious wines.

Located in the extreme south of Côte de Beaune, the Joseph Drouhin Santenay vineyards are planted in clay and limestone soil. The production of each strain is limited (47 hectolitres per hectare) so that the grapes can reveal all the nuances of the terroir. The harvest is carried out at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, Joseph Drouhin Santenay is macerated and vinified over 3 weeks with native yeasts and at a controlled temperature. The cap is plunged once a day until halfway through fermentation and pumping over is carried out once a day until the end of the fermentation. It then ages in for 12 to15 months in French oak barrels, 10% of which are new oak.

Joseph Drouhin Santenay is an elegant and balanced red wine that shows the great nuances of Burgundy.
2015 Joseph Drouhin Santenay 2015 is a mature and fruity red wine with intense aromas of wild red and black fruits (blackberries and blueberries). The palate is meaty and intense with flavours reminiscent of grenadine syrup. It has a long aftertaste.
