About Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges

Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges is a monovarietal Pinot Noir red wine from the AOC Nuits-Saint-Georges produced by Joseph Drouhin.

Joseph Drouhin is a winery founded in 1880 and located in Beaune. It cultivates 78 hectares of vineyards located in various sub-areas of Burgundy: in Côte de Nuits, Chablis, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. It also buys grapes and must from local producers to produce some of his references. For years the winery has been practicing organic farming because it understands that listening and respecting its vineyards and nature is essential for producing quality wines.

The vineyards for Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges are east-facing. In the plots there are areas with outcrops of hard chalk. The northern part produces wines of great delicacy. In the southern part, with a more rocky soil, more powerful and long-lasting wines are produced. Planting density is approximately 10,000 plants per hectare, the vines are pruned in Guyot style and the average yield is approximately 45 hl/ha.

Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges is vinified by macerating and fermenting with native yeasts at a controlled temperature for about 2-3 weeks. Once fermented, the wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 20 % of which are new.

Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges is a Pinot Noir red with intense and elegant aromas, and is balanced and lingeringly agreeable on the palate .
2016 Joseph Drouhin Nuits-Saint-Georges 2016 is a wine with powerful and elegant aromas, notes of cherries and blackberries, and touches of cedar. On the palate it is balanced and smooth, with an aftertaste that evokes a syrup of fruit and spices.
