About Joseph Drouhin Volnay

Joseph Drouhin Volnay is a biodynamic, barrel-aged red wine made by Joseph Drouhin in the AOC Volnay / Côte-d'Or (Burgundy) with the Pinot Noir variety.

Founded in Beaune in 1880, the Joseph Drouhin winery is one of the largest estates in the Burgundy region. With almost 90 different denominations of origin, the family estate is now in the hands of the fourth generation and they work to create excellence. Each of their wines is a symbol of their attention to detail, discipline and passion.

Joseph Drouhin Volnay comes from vineyards south of Beaune, next to Pommard. These are Pinot Noir vines planted in loam and limestone soils with small pebbles. They are cultivated using biodynamic agriculture and the yields are limited so that the grapes reveal all the nuances of the terroir.

In the winery, the Joseph Drouhin Volnay grapes are delicately pressed using the drawing off method and the must is fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. It is finally filtered and bottled.

Joseph Drouhin Volnay is a red wine born in the heart of Pinot Noir territory and like a good Burgundy, it reveals great elegance and aromatic expression.

2018 Joseph Drouhin Volnay 2018 is a smooth red wine with aromas of ripe red fruit, herbal notes, and spicy and mineral touches. On the palate it is velvety, intense and elegant. A wine with fine tannins, with a rounded sensation and a salty finish.
