About Oxer Kalamity

Kalamity is a red wine produced in La Rioja by Oxer Bastegieta in Laguardia, Alava.

Oxer Bastegieta is a vine grower who started to make Txakoli in the family winery in Kortezubi, a little Bizcayan town close to Urdaibai natural park. He moved to La Rioja to study viticulture and oenology and fell in love with the landscape in la Rioja Alavesa. He took up residence in Laguardia in 2009 and started to examine the area´s vineyards in order to begin making wine.

Kalamity is the culmination of Oxer´s project in the area, a very old vineyard made up of cultivated Tempranillo, Garnacha and Viura varieties following the precepts of biodynamic agriculture. Fermented and aged in French oak barrels, this red wine is pure craftmanship. Only 900 bottles.
