Sometimes, the quest for authenticity is a journey of surrender. Surrendering haste, intervention, and control, allowing nature to take the reins. L'Archetipo, as its name implies, is a return to the essentials, to what originates from the earth without embellishments or artifices. L'Archetipo is not merely a term; it is an invitation to return to the primordial, to the genuine, to that which in its purest and most natural form holds value. In the case of this winery located in the heart of Apulia (Italy), everything begins in the field, where the Dibenedetto family has spent over two decades dedicated to understanding, listening to, and respecting the land, initially through organic farming and, over time, refining their approach towards synergistic agriculture, a model that transcends biodynamics and seeks harmony in every element of the ecosystem.
L'Archetipo Aglianico Puglia is the perfect embodiment of this philosophy of respect and patience. This wine is crafted exclusively from aglianico grapes, cultivated in red soil, rich in siliceous-calcareous gravel and fissured calcareous clay, providing an ideal terroir for the development of concentrated and characterful grapes. Here, there is no ploughing, no chemicals or additives are used. Cultivation is natural, respecting its cycles and allowing the land to express its character without alterations. In the winery, vinification, carried out with native yeasts, is a process free from forced interventions, where the wine ferments spontaneously, unhurriedly. Afterwards, the wine rests for a year in large oak barrels, which imparts complexity, and then spends another 12 months in steel to maintain its freshness and pure expression. Finally, it undergoes a 6-month refinement in the bottle, where it continues its natural evolution, developing further layers and nuances.
The result is L'Archetipo Aglianico Puglia, a wine that is not only an expression of its terroir but also a statement of principles. An archetype of what can emerge when respect for nature and the synergy of the ecosystem are in balance.
