If there is something for which the wines of Apulia are renowned, particularly those from Salento (that sunny "heel of the boot" of Italy), it is for their robust, warm, and characterful reds. However, occasionally something unexpected emerges, and that... we cannot overlook.
This is the case with Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto, an agronomist by birth and farmer at heart, who, along with his family, leads a project that beats to a different drum: L’Archetipo.
Located in the very heart of Apulia, their commitment is clear: synergistic agriculture, a philosophy that goes beyond organic. In synergistic farming, it is not just about non-intervention, but about observing, supporting, and fostering the natural collaboration between plants, soils, microorganisms, and insects. The entire vineyard is conceived as a living, self-sufficient organism, where health arises from harmony, not control.
From this philosophy emerges a gem with a free spirit: L’Archetipo Niuru Maru Salento. A wine that is surprisingly understated, fresh, balanced, and expressive, far from the typical exuberance of the south, yet with a depth that captivates. Crafted from the indigenous negroamaro variety, it is cultivated on mineral-rich soils—a blend of clay and limestone. In the winery, the wine is macerated with its skins for 20 to 30 days, ferments spontaneously in steel, and then matures for 6 months in steel, 6 months in large oak barrels, and finally, 6 months in the bottle.
No more, no less. L'Archetipo Niuru Maru Salento is a delightful rarity in a sea of intensity. Just living earth, time, and respect for what nature wishes to offer.
