About L'Enclòs de Peralba Els Presseguers

We are seeing more and more young growers starting their own projects and vinifying their grapes. Authenticity and sustainability are the words of the moment for these people, and their work undoubtedly brings riches to the area. In Penedès, a wine region located 45 km from Barcelona (Catalonia) and very close to the Mediterranean Sea, more and more people are working this way. One example of this is L'Enclòs de Peralba, a small project set up by Roc and Leo Gramona, the sixth generation of the renowned Gramona quality sparkling winemaking family. Through organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices, they highlight the local native varieties.  

A good example of this is L'Enclòs de Peralba Els Presseguers, a white wine made from the native Xarel·lo variety planted in 1994, in a mountainous area located 400 metres above sea level and growing in mainly clayey and calcareous soils. These vines are cultivated using organic and biodynamic agriculture and no chemicals. Once the grapes have been harvested following the biodynamic calendar, on a flower day and during the waxing moon, they are macerated with the skins for a few hours before pressing. The resulting must is then fermented spontaneously with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and, halfway through the process, it is racked into 660-litre cement eggs, 500-litre new barrels and 300-litre barrels of different uses. Batonnage takes place weekly and the wine is aged for 9 months. Finally, it is bottled without clarifying or filtering.

The result is something very fragrant. L'Enclòs de Peralba Els Presseguers is a fresh and aromatic wine that unabashedly showcases the full potential of the Penedès’ reigning variety; the Xarel·lo.

2019

L'Enclòs de Peralba Els Presseguers 2019 is a finely crafted white wine, redolent with succulent aromas of white fruit, complemented by citrus undertones and hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it is invigorating, vibrant, and exuberant. A delightfully vivacious wine that promises exceedingly enjoyable occasions.

2018

L'Enclòs de Peralba Els Presseguers 2018 is a white wine with aromas of ripe white fruit, citrus notes and herbal hints. On the palate it is fresh, aromatic and lively. A well-balanced wine with marked acidity, an enveloping texture and a bitter finish characteristic of the Xarel·lo variety.
