Being an entrepreneur is one of the most exhilarating adventures, yet also one of the most challenging. In the world of wine, this journey possesses an almost magical element: the patient waiting, the changing landscapes, the scent of harvest, and the satisfaction of witnessing the birth of a bottle bearing your name. However, behind this poetry lies sacrifice, investment, technical decisions, and a profound commitment to the land.
Fortunately, not every creator must tread this path alone. There are initiatives designed to accompany those who dream of crafting their own wine, and one such initiative is La Xarada, an incubator for small-scale wine projects that has become an essential support for young producers in Penedès who wish to embark on this journey without compromising on quality or their identity.
In this fertile environment for ideas and dreams, La Fita emerged, the project of Martí Torrallardona Raventós, a young winemaker and the son and grandson of viticulturists. His adventure began in 2021 with a clear purpose: to reclaim and pay homage to the landscape that has witnessed his growth.
Today, we pause to appreciate one of his creations, La Fita Xarel·lo de les Granges, a wine born from the Les Granges plot, nestled in the heart of the Olèrdola Natural Park. The xarel·lo vines, planted in 1987 and cultivated organically, cling to a stony and extremely calcareous soil, a harsh terrain that paradoxically yields a pure, honest, and vibrant expression.
The winemaking process adheres to an artisanal and respectful approach. Destemming is complete, with six days of skin maceration and fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Following this, the wine rests for six months in tanks and nine months in the bottle, refining its character and gaining depth without losing freshness.
The result is a xarel·lo that speaks of landscape and memory, of minerality and Mediterranean light. La Fita Xarello de les Granges beautifully conveys the intimate bond between territory and winemaker.
