Le Battistelle Soave Classico is a white wine aged on lees made by Le Battistelle with the Garganega variety in the DOC Soave, in Veneto (Italy).
Gelmino and Cristina Dal Bosco are the people behind Le Battistelle, a small project in Brognoligo, in the heart of the Soave Classico production area, which was set up in 2002 when the family decided to make their own wines instead of selling their grapes to the local cooperative. Their work respects tradition and results in unique wines with close links to the volcanic land.
Le Battistelle Soave Classico comes from old vineyards planted on steep terraces on soils rich in basaltic tuff. The vines are 70-90 years old and are cultivated using environmentally friendly methods. They are harvested by hand due to the extreme slopes.
In the winery, once the grapes have been selected and pressed, Le Battistelle Soave Classico begins a slow fermentation that lasts about 15 days. The wine then spends about 4 months in stainless steel tanks on the fine lees with batonnage every two days.
Made with Garganega, a native variety that reveals its full potential in volcanic soils, Le Battistelle Soave Classico is a combination of structure and elegance wrapped in balanced acidity and marked minerality.
