About Lo Món

Lo Món is an excellent red wine from the IO Priorat prepared by the Trossos del Priorat. The Trossos del Priorat winery is a young winery, founded in 2004, with the idea of producing wines of terroir, expressive wines that represent the whole personality of the Priorat. Lo Món is made with four typical varieties of Priorat: Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

The grapes come from small vinyards owned by the winery, grown organically in the town of Gratallops. The soils are slate, called licorella in the Priorat. This soil gives the wine a very special personality.

The harvest is done manually and grapes undergo a double selection. A first selection is made in the vineyard, and a second in the cellar. Lo Món is aged fior 12 months in 225 litre French oak barrels. One third of the barrels are new, another third are a year old, and the rest are two years old.

We recommend decanting this wine at least an hour before serving. A concentrated wine, a fresh and very tasty Priorat.

2008 This wine is very good, intense and embracing at the attack. It has a good, very tasty and fleshy mid palate with sweety and creamy touches. It has a silky texture and a good acidity that provides this wine with the freshness needed. Its shows soft and ripe tannins and a long and very persistent aftertaste reminiscent of sweet black fruit.

Intense maroon cherry colour, almost opaque, with violet reflections. Medium robe. It shows dense slowy falling tears.

Very balanced and integrated aromas that form a very harmonious set. Its abundant notes of very ripe black fruit, as sweet as jam, with hints of fresh red fruit, all of it mixed with abundant elegant roasted notes, spices and bitter cocoa. This set is completed with light touches of undergrowth and anise and violets scents. Its intense mineral background is reminiscent of the slate soils.
