Louis Jadot Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourchaumes is a white wine made on lees by Louis Jadot with the Chardonnay variety in the AOC Chablis Premier Cru, in Burgundy (France).
The Louis Jadot maison was set up in 1859 by Louis Jadot in the heart of Beaune. After managing the winery for three generations Jadot handed over the reins to Mr. André Gagey. It is now a large company run by his son Pierre-Henry, who manages around 270 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy and Beaujolais.
The Louis Jadot Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourchaumes wine starts life in the northern part of Burgundy, between Dijon and Paris. A Premier Cru with loamy calcareous soils that are responsible for bringing the style that is so characteristic of Chablis wines. The harvest is carried out manually and the grapes are selected in the vineyard itself.
In the winery, the grapes used to make Louis Jadot Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourchaumes are gently pressed and the resulting must ferments in stainless steel tanks and wooden barrels. The wine is then aged in barrels (30% new) for 15-16 months before bottling.
With a solid experience behind them, Louis Jadot is an expert winery when it comes to producing Burgundy wines. The Louis Jadot Chablis 1er Cru Les Fourchaumes wine is a great example of this. A perfectly balanced and very mineral Chablis Premier Cru.
