About Louis Latour Ardèche Chardonnay

Louis-Fabrice Latour, president of Maison Louis Latour, has been one of Burgundy’s most prominent and historic wine producers. In terms of his mission, he succeeded in showcasing a Burgundy region that is proud of its past and its terroir, but that is also modern and enterprising. Sadly, a devastating cancer took his life at the age of 58, but thanks to his passion and professionalism, he has left us more than 125 labels from prestigious denominations like Chablis, Côte d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise, Mâcon and Beaujolais that are worth shouting about.

If the wide range of Louis Latour wines is known for one thing, it is for the successful way in which they combine tradition with innovation. Louis Latour Ardèche Chardonnay is a white wine made from Chardonnay vines located in the Ardèche river valley, in the Rhone valley. Vines with an average age of 25 years old planted in exceptionally sunny locations on clay and limestone soils, cultivated following sustainable agriculture and limited yields. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, it is harvested using machinery. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and crushed, and the resulting must is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Once malolactic fermentation is complete, the wine ages in these same tanks for 8 to 10 months.  

The result is Louis Latour Ardèche Chardonnay, a wine that represents the 7th generation of a family winery that is independent and with a great track record. A high quality Chardonnay that boasts power, body and minerality.

Louis Latour Ardèche Chardonnay 2018 is a creamy white wine with aromas of white fruit, notes of honey and hints of dried fruits. On the palate it is a powerful, complex and well balanced. A medium-bodied wine with noticeable acidity and a long, persistent finish with a mineral aftertaste.
