About Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a monovarietal Chardonnay white wine qualified as a wine from the AOC Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru and produced by Louis Latour.

Louis Latour is a winery in Burgundy with more than two centuries of history. It was founded in 1797 and is currently run by the eleventh generation of the same family. It owns about 50 hectares in several of the most famous denominations in the region and is associated with several grape growers who provide it with grapes. It produces wines that are known for their quality, and even has its own cooperage.

The Latour family owns 11 hectares in the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru denomination, which makes them the largest owner there. The vineyards for Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru have an average age of 30 years and their soils are limestone and stony. They face the southeast, produce an average of 40 hectolitres per hectare and are harvested completely by hand as late as possible so that the grapes are fully ripe.

Once in the cellar, Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is vinified by fermenting it in new oak barrels. The wine also undergoes malolactic fermentation and ends up being aged in barrels with medium toasting for 8 to 10 months.

Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is a Chardonnay white wine from a vineyard that is exceptional for cultivating this variety, and is an intense, complex and deep wine.
2015 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2015 displays a complex nose of almonds, vanilla and smoky notes. It is a full wine with flavours of almond, honey and vanilla. It is also beautifully lingering, which makes it an exceptional wine.
2014 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2014 reveals an intense and complex nose of grilled almonds with slightly smoky notes. It also has aromas of almond paste mixed with fine lactic notes and those of bakery. On the palate it is powerful, generous and frank, and also reveals notes of toasted and fresh almond aromas. It is very lingering and is accompanied by a pleasant minerality.
