About Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet

Wines that are part of the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet, one of the best white wine denominations in Burgundy, are produced in the municipalities of Chassagne-Montrachet and Remigny, in the Côte de Beaune (Burgundy). These are wines that offer great value for money and a timeless image and, compared to the neighbouring Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet denominations, are much more affordably priced. The family-owned Maison Louis Latour, a century-old winery that prides itself on remaining a fully independent, family-owned company since 1797, is one of the most respected in Burgundy. With one of the largest areas of vineyards spread throughout the region and even further south, they have an absolute mastery of the different Burgundy sub-denominations. It is not surprising, then, that they also produces wines within the AOC Chassagne-Montrachet/Côte-d'Or.

This is the case with Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet, a white wine made with the Chardonnay star variety from 30-year-old vines planted on chalk and clay soils. With an average yield of 40 hl/ha, the Latour family follows a traditional agriculture that has been handed down over 12 generations and, once the grapes reach optimum ripeness, the harvest is carried out by hand. The winemaking is classic in style. First the grapes are destemmed and carefully crushed. Then the resulting must is deposited in oak barrels with complete malolactic fermentation at a constant controlled temperature. Finally, the wine ages for 8 to 10 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new.

With an established reputation behind them, the eleventh Latour generation continues the family tradition with wines like this Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet. A high voltage Chardonnay that compels for its incredible volume and length.

2021 Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet 2021 is a white wine with pleasant aromas of white peach accompanied by hints of vanilla and hazelnuts. The palate is silky and elegant, with an exquisite mineral finish and a savoury note of fresh almonds.
2020

Louis Latour Chassagne Montrachet 2020 is a creamy white wine with delicate aromas of yellow fruits over an almond background and a mineral touch. On the palate it is broad, fresh and crisp. A rich wine with an unctuous mid-palate and well-integrated wood. The finish is lingering and very pleasant.
