About Luzón Verdecillo

Luzón Verdecillo is a monovarietal Monastrell red wine organically produced by Bodegas Luzón in the D.O. Jumilla.

Bodegas Luzón is a benchmark Jumilla winery that produces wines based on the native Monastrell variety that are very good value for money. They began by selling bulk wines but have gradually become specialists in the production of quality wines. To achieve this goal, the winery has been acquiring 35 to 50 year old plots of Monastrell planted in bush form. They have 350 hectares of their own vineyard and control a total of 1,000 hectares.

Luzón Verdecillo is fermented over a period of 6 to 8 days at a controlled temperature not higher than 24 ºC to preserve the fruity aromas of the variety. The maceration with the skins lasts between 2 and 4 days so that a fresh and fruity wine with little extraction is obtained.

Luzón Verdecillo takes its inspiration from a little bird of the same name. The wine is labelled with several designs in which the verdecillo (serin) appears in different positions. Like the serin, Luzón Verdecillo is light and friendly.
