Manda Huevos Tinto is a red wine produced by Escoces Volante in the province of Calatayud. For technical reasons, they have wanted to drop out from D.O. Calatayud.
Norrel Robertson is Escoces Volante. A Master of Wine who established his winery in Calatayud after seeing the high potential of this area, full of old vines.
Manda Huevos Tinto comes from two plots that have the same name, Caña Andrea. One of them dates back to 1908, and it is comprised of several varieties, Fine Grenache, White Grenache, Moristel and Bobal. The other plot, from 1970, is only planted with Fine Grenache. The fermentation of the grapes is carried out in open vats, with a slight extraction, and only a light punch-down. After this, the wine is racked into egg-shaped plastic containers, where it is left to age on its lees for 10 months.
The result of Manda Huevos Tinto is a complex wine, thanks to its fruity and somewhat flowery character, without losing the lightness and the freshness they seek in their production.
