About Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra

The finest grapes of the vintage. The most personal selection of Manuel Raventós Negra. Such is the straightforward presentation of Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra, an exceptional sparkling wine crafted in Catalonia.

Specifically, the birthplace of Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra is located in the Anoia river basin—a tributary of the Llobregat—a truly special and distinctive setting where the perfect conditions for the splendid development of grapes are found, with ideal salinity and acidity for producing sparkling wines. This location, situated in the northeast of Catalonia, nestled between the Prelitoral and Litoral Catalan mountain ranges, boasts a unique character due to its calcareous soils (a result of fossil and marine deposits accumulated over the years) and its climate (with mild winters and hot, dry summers). Furthermore, the proximity to the sea (which moderates temperatures), the Litoral mountain range (which shields against excessive humidity), and the Compte and Montserrat mountains (which protect from the cold of the Pyrenees), create an ideal microclimate that encourages slow ripening. Regarding cultivation, the 90 hectares are fully converted to biodynamic principles (animal manure, short goblet pruning, vineyard treatments with copper and sulfur infusions, etc.).

In this case, and as expected, the harvest of Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra is conducted manually with small trailers (to ensure the grapes remain in good condition). After selection in the vineyard itself, the grapes of Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra are taken to the winery, where they are gently pressed, and the musts are organized according to the different plots of origin. Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra will ferment in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts. The aging process of 9 months on lees, followed by the subsequent riddling phase—which will last several years—will ultimately impart Raventós i Blanc Manuel Raventós Negra with its silky and enveloping texture.
