About Marguet Shaman Grand Cru

Marguet Shaman Grand Cru is a biodynamic Brut Nature Champagne made with the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varieties, produced by Benoit Marguet in the prestigious Champagne denomination.

In Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village on the southern face of the Reims Mountains, Benoit Marguet is revolutionising the world of Champagne. A direct descendent of the great families who worked to save the vineyards after the fateful phylloxera, this young producer focusses on the most respectful care of the vineyard and the terroir by using ecological and biodynamic practices. These practices have become the talk of the town.

The Marguet Shaman Grand Cru vineyards stand out for the absence of chemical products, harmful techniques and even machinery. All work is manual and ploughing is carried out using two horses. Demeter certified, these vineyards maintain their natural balance through biodynamic agriculture, using plant-based preparations and following the lunar calendar.

Marguet Shaman Grand Cru ferments and ages for 9 months in different sized used barrels according to biodynamic principles. It then ages on lees in the bottle for 3 years. Finally, 2 grams/l of light expedition liqueur is added. It is not filtered or clarified and no sulphites are added.

Marguet Shaman Grand is the flagship product of the Marguet champagne house. This is an operation that knows how to extract the full character of the terroir, respecting the vineyard as much as possible and with minimal intervention in the winery.

2015 Marguet Shaman Grand Cru 2015 is a refreshing champagne with citrus aromas and mineral touches. On the palate it is complex, structured and elegant. It has great aging potential.
