About Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba

The history of Serralunga d'Alba, a village in the Barolo wine-growing area in Langhe, Piemonte (Italy), is closely linked to the Massolinos, a family with a winemaking tradition whose founder Giovanni, as well as establishing the estate in 1896, was responsible for bringing electricity to the village. After him, his son Giuseppe was the real architect of the winery and faithful champion of its terroirs. So much so that he was one of the founders of the Consortium for the Protection of Barolo and Barbaresco to create a legal definition of these legendary ‘crus’. Today, three of his six children are in charge of the project and are dedicated to expanding the estate with truly luxurious vineyards.

Without neglecting innovation, the Massolino wines reflect a tradition that preserves typicity at all times. This is clear to see in Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba. This wine comes from 2.5 hectares of Dolcetto grape vineyards lying at an altitude of 330 metres above sea level, on predominantly limestone soil and with a yield of 70 hl/ha. They are cultivated using environmentally friendly agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness. In the winery, fermentation is carried out with skin-contact maceration for 7-9 days in stainless steel tanks. Following malolactic fermentation the wine remains in these same containers for a short time and finally 4 more months in the bottle.

With the Massolino winery being a benchmark on the Piedmont wine scene, Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba is a faithful reflection of this way of working. A Dolcetto with an enchanting freshness and wonderful elegance.

2020

Massolino Dolcetto d'Alba 2020 is a succulent red wine bursting with aromas of ripe fruit, complemented by scents of violet flowers and hints of licorice. On the palate, it is warm, embracing, and velvety. A wine with delightful acidity and pronounced tannins that beckons one to continue savoring.
