Mengoba Las Tinajas is a white wine from the D.O Bierzo produced by the Mengoba winery. This is a single-variety wine made with the Godello grape.
The grapes used for Mengoba Las Tinajas are taken from small plots situated in the towns of Espanillo and Quilos, both in El Bierzo. The vineyards are around 70 years old and are situated 600 metres above sea level. The vineyards are home to slate and stony soils, which vary slightly across each estate.
The harvest is carried out manually, ensuring that the grapes do not break and arrive at the winery in the best condition possible. At the winery, some of the grapes are deposited whole, while some are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation is carried out at low temperatures. Following this, maceration is carried out for 2 months.
Following maceration, the most for
Mengoba Las Tinajas is pressed and the liquid is seperated from the skins. The wine then rests for 6 months in the same tanks where the various phases of vinification were carried out, and is then bottled without being clarified or filtered.
